In our daily job we carry out a large number of projects in many different sectors. Today we want to present you a customized solution for an offshore project. This is for the wind sector; with which we are used to work with. A brand new project for a client with whom we have already worked before: Adwen.
Adwen needed a brand new nacelle lifting toolkit and lifting equipment. They contacted Airpes and found a tailor made solution. We find an option that fits their needs in a safe way. Airpes is in charge of the design and manufacture of this lifting equipment.
The taylor made solution: a nacelle lifting beam
This tool consists of:

A main beam of a circular section of steel tube

Two trunnions attached to each side
Perpendicular to the main beam there is another beam attached. Its function is to help guide the tool during hoisting maneuvers. The hoisting is being made with a synthetic set of slings connecting both the tool and the nacelle AD8.
We design both main beam and trunnion to accept aluminum wedges. This allows adjusting the tool’s longitudinal and transverse angle.
Also, there are 2 rear supports with sliding pins. This allows a fast hook and release of the slings with the rear part of the nacelle AD8. We design the tool for the full nacelle’s lifting, after installing the transmission tree in the 600t. Adwen 8 MW generators.
